The President of Soroti Lions Club and Kasilo County MP aspirant, Peter Carlos Ebiau, has appealed to voters across the Teso sub-region to elect active, transparent, and accountable leaders who truly represent the interests of the people.
Speaking during a media engagement held at Sanctuary Meat House in Campswahili, Soroti City, Ebiau emphasized the need for voters to prioritize leaders who are committed to service over those who become inactive after securing office.

“Time has come for you to change leaders. Those who have worked well, send them back. But those who have failed to deliver should be replaced. We need leadership that works for all of us, not one that benefits just a few,” Ebiau said.

He called on voters to elect capable and people-centered leaders regardless of their political party affiliations, whether from NRM, FDC, or other political parties, as long as they are accountable and ready to represent the views and interests of the people.
Ebiau, who is contesting as an independent candidate, is set to face incumbent Hon. Elijah Okupa, who has served as the Member of Parliament for Kasilo County since 2001 a total of 24 years in Parliament.

Highlighting key issues facing Kasilo County, Ebiau cited the need to address challenges in health, education, environmental protection, unemployment, infrastructure development, corruption, transparency, and access to agricultural markets.
He pledged to empower the local population and promote sustainable development.
Interestingly, Ebiau was a long-time supporter and DJ for Hon. Okupa for over two decades but has now decided to contest against him in the 2026 general elections, stating that he understands both the strengths and weaknesses of his opponent.
“I’m not standing against Hon. Okupa because he has not done well. I appreciate his contributions. But I feel I am the right leader to represent my people. From primary school up to now, I’ve actively participated in leadership, and I believe I am best suited for Kasilo,” he said.
Ebiau also positioned himself as the representative of the new generation (Gen Zs), noting that while Hon. Okupa has represented the older generation, it is time for a new leader to bridge the generational gap and voice the aspirations of the youth.
As part of his manifesto, Ebiau promised to focus on mindset change, lobbying, benchmarking, and engagement with authorities and stakeholders to bring sustainable development to Kasilo.
In the education sector, he proposed pilot studies to improve academic performance, the training and recruitment of more teachers, and initiatives to fight school dropouts and early marriages through community involvement.
As an environmental activist, Ebiau has already planted over 200,000 trees in Kasilo County and now plans to introduce jackfruit tree plantations to boost environmental sustainability.
He concluded by urging voters to conduct a peaceful, free, and fair election, cautioning against violence and urging the people of Kasilo to remain united and harmonious throughout the election period.
“Politics comes and goes. Let us not harm each other. Let us remain united and in harmony,” he concluded.

I love this democracy is very important in development of the country and regions these internal elections actually spur development as whoever gets the mantle is pushed to work extra hard to deliver to the electorate instead of remaining with the idea of self importance imagination which does not help the grassroot population.
