Ntalo Vincent Gonzaga, a former contender for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flag bearer position, has officially withdrawn from the race and pledged unwavering loyalty to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
In a statement that stirred political discussions across the country, Ntalo emphasized that his decision was not driven by personal gain but by a desire to uphold party unity and national stability.

“I have withdrawn not because I have been given a cake, but to retain the party’s strength and love for the NRM, I’m still young, and I believe my time will come. For now, I stand behind President Museveni as a standby generator ready to take over when needed, but fully behind the engine that is Museveni.” Ntalo remarks.

Hailing from Kanyangan Village, Kateta Sub-County in Serere District, Ntalo a proud Mukenyi by tribe had launched a spirited campaign to challenge President Museveni in the upcoming 2026 general elections.

In recognition of his dedication and commitment to the party, President Museveni appointed Ntalo as the official NRM mobilizer for the Teso sub-region.
In this new role, Ntalo is expected to lead grassroots mobilization efforts, galvanize support for the ruling party, and promote the NRM’s development agenda.
“My message to Ugandans is simple support President Museveni he is a leader who understands this country deeply, and under his guidance, we can achieve even more,” Ntalo said during a press briefing.
Ntalo highlighted President Museveni’s contributions to Uganda’s development, citing advancements in infrastructure, rural electrification, healthcare, education, and national security.
“President Museveni has transformed Uganda through roads, schools, health centers, and stability we enjoy as a results of his visionary leadership, those who criticize him do so without offering credible alternatives the opposition speaks loudly but lacks substance.” he said
On the topic of corruption, Ntalo came to the President’s defense, asserting that most accusations are politically motivated and aimed at undermining government achievements.
Despite stepping aside in this election cycle, Ntalo remains ambitious about his political future.
He reiterated his commitment to the NRM and expressed confidence in leading the country someday.
“I’m not done, I believe I still have a great contribution to make, I remain a standby generator for the NRM and for Uganda. When the right time comes, I will step forward,” he declared.
