Dokolo North MP aspirant Joseph Jones Ogwal Omara has called on voters to be vigilant in selecting leaders, warning against candidates who he says failed to deliver on their mandates during previous terms.
The warning came during a mobilisation rally at Agwata Town Council on Thursday, where Ogwal also outlined a long-term flood preparedness plan.

“We cannot afford to re-elect leaders who only appear when elections are near,” Ogwal told residents. “Voters must scrutinize all aspirants carefully. We need accountable leaders who will deliver results, not just promises.”

Ogwal said he will work closely with local councillors to ensure a dedicated emergency budget is created for flood-prone areas and adopted by both the district council and Parliament.
He also promised to activate a local disaster committee and follow up with government authorities to ensure that flooding victims receive timely post-disaster support.

“Our people suffer every rainy season because of reactive responses. This time, we want a system that works before disasters strike, and leaders who are responsible for implementing it,” he said.
At the same rally, Janet Rose Adongo Elau, the NRM flag bearer for Woman MP Dokolo District, emphasised the importance of improving health services.
She pledged to lobby for the upgrade of health centres across the district to meet growing population needs.
“Health is the backbone of every community. Mothers, children and the elderly should access quality care without long distances,” she said.
Elders Nelson Owodo, Benard Etin, and Jaspher Angulu endorsed Ogwal Joseph Jones, Adongo Elau, and James Otto Apili (LC5 Chairperson aspirant), highlighting the candidates’ credibility and community-focused agendas.
“These candidates understand the real issues on the ground. They have plans that will improve our lives, and that is why we support them,” elder Owodo said.
The rally drew hundreds of residents across age groups who pledged to support official NRM flag bearers in the 2026 elections, citing the need for accountable and results-driven leadership to accelerate development.
