The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Orungo County, General Abubaker Jeje Odongo, has officially launched his 2026 campaign manifesto, placing major emphasis on peace, security, unity, and development as the key pillars for transforming Orungo County.
The manifesto launch took place at Orungo Primary School, where electrified supporters gathered in large numbers to show their unwavering love and support for the veteran legislator.

In his address, Gen. Jeje Odongo stressed the importance of peace and stability as the foundation for all other forms of development.

“Security in the area allows you to do other economic activities. We need to be stable to carry out our other economic engagements,” he told the cheering crowd.
The General highlighted that his contest in 2026 is anchored on four major priorities peace in the county, unity among the people, stability, and the overall development and growth of Orungo County.

“My contest this time is to make sure peace, stability and unity is upon my people as we are going into a peaceful transition of government. I also want to make sure growth and development in Orungo County begins with setting peace and security,” he said.
He vowed to resolve the divisions that arose during the NRM primaries, urging residents to unite and move as one family.
He also pledged to safeguard community and church lands, noting concerns raised by the Catholic Church and Sub-county in Akeriau Sub-county which is reportedly facing land threats.
To improve growth and development in Orungo, Gen. Jeje Odongo pledged to donate his monthly parliamentary salary to the county, explaining that every month one sub-county will receive his full salary, ensuring that all seven sub-counties benefit.
He further emphasized youth empowerment through his motorcycle program, where young people can acquire motorcycles, ride them for three months, and then start paying UGX 50,000 per month in installments until ownership is complete.
Gen. Jeje Odongo reiterated his commitment to improving education in the county.
He cited achievements such as the provision of solar lights across schools in Orungo, the purchase of a printer for exam materials, and the donation of computers to Orungo SS, Kochocwa Secondary School, and Morungatuny Seed School to promote ICT learning.
On health, the Minister revealed plans to upgrade Orungo Health Centre III to IV and to construct a ward from his personal resources to support government health interventions.
He disclosed that he has already made over 4,000 building blocks to kick-start the construction of the new ward and promised to lobby for an ambulance to help reduce patient transportation delays.
For clean water access, Gen. Odongo said he had drilled 17 boreholes across Cornerstone and other villages but acknowledged that more needs to be done.
He pledged to install solar-powered boreholes in every village to ensure safe water for all.
The General outlined a five-year target aimed at ensuring every household in Orungo generates at least UGX 5-7 million per year through agricultural transformation.
He committed to promoting large-scale farming, value addition, and diversification into ventures like fish farming, poultry, beekeeping, and commercial crop production, including coffee.
Gen. Jeje Odongo also shared his efforts in demonstration farming, saying he had started a farm at his home to teach residents modern farming techniques that generate income and reduce poverty.
“I want to make sure we enlarge agricultural production, reduce dependence on one farming system, and eradicate poverty through various practices like poultry, crop growing, and value addition,” he said.
The Minister announced a new partnership with PELA, an NGO dealing in cashew nut farming, which will supply seedlings to farmers and buy the produce at between UGX 3,000–5,000 per kilogram.
He also encouraged the growth of tomatoes, onions, cabbages, and the increase of cattle production, aligning with the Presidential Initiative to restock all Iteso households with five cows each.
To boost poultry farming, he revealed that he had purchased a hatching machine capable of producing 4,000 chicks every 21 days to increase chicken production and improve household incomes.
On improving accessibility, Gen. Jeje Odongo highlighted his contributions to constructing major community roads in the constituency.
These include Abilkoku–Agora–Ocakai, Ojama–Acele–Odelel, Paradise–Oriebai–Abilat, Achanpi–Morucutu–Ilelu–Ojama–Onyamguro, Ilelu–Ariamet, and Cornerstone–Aola roads.
He also promised to repair and reconstruct damaged roads and bridges and install culverts where rain has caused erosion.
Concluding his speech, the Foreign Affairs Minister urged the people of Orungo to desist from chaos, disunity, and political fights.
“When politics ends, we shall all remain in Orungo. Let us not point fingers at each other but remain as one people in this county,” he appealed.
One of his supporters, Nathan Ebiru, praised the General for his continued service and dedication to the empowerment of Orungo County.
“We appreciate the great work you have done. You are doing a big job in this constituency, and we promise full support to ensure you win this election,” Ebiru said.
He also warned residents against politics of lies and urged peaceful campaigns that focus on development rather than division.
“Let us avoid politics of destruction. Some people have been sent to other camps to spy and feed this camp with information, so no need to threaten them,” he added humorously, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Another supporter, Etiu Jorem, a resident of Akeriau Sub-county and former campaign agent for Emmy Olaboro Ejuku, reaffirmed his support for General Jeje Odongo, saying he remains the only leader capable of restoring peace, unity, and development in Orungo County.
“We still have trust in General Jeje because he is the only one who can create peace and security in Orungo. That’s why I have returned to his camp since my candidate did not contest,” Jorem stated.
He emphasized that his decision was driven by the need to protect the county’s future from poor leadership.
“I came back to support my candidate, General Jeje Odongo, because our constituency was going into the wrong hands. We are working hard to make sure he goes through, he is the only pillar,” he added.
