The Soroti District Scouts Council has launched a six-day District Scouts Camp aimed at empowering young people with essential life skills and enhancing scouting infrastructure in the region.
The 2025 Soroti District Scouts Camp, running from 5th to 10th December 2025 at Majengo Camping Site, is expected to draw participants from various schools and communities within and beyond Soroti District.

According to the District Scout Commissioner, Mr. Icumar Patrick, the camp is designed to promote discipline, leadership, self-reliance, and community service among the youth.

“This camp provides a platform for young people to learn practical skills that shape them into responsible and productive citizens,” Mr. Icumar said.
He stated that participants will undergo training in First Aid, jungle survival, physical fitness, parade drills, leadership and strategic communication, as well as vocational and entrepreneurship skills such as soap and craft making.

In addition to training, scouts will take part in community development projects at the Majengo Camping Site, including the laying of 20,000 bricks for the completion of the Scouts’ office block and the construction of modern washrooms part of ongoing efforts to improve facilities for future scouting activities.
The Camp Commandant, Mr. Emuron Lambert, noted that the programme balances learning with recreation.
“Beyond training sessions, evenings will feature campfires, cultural music and dance (MDD), and entertainment, fostering teamwork, creativity, and social bonding,” he said.
The camp will feature experienced facilitators: Mr. Akiso from Etop Radio will handle leadership and communication sessions, while Mr. Icumar Patrick and Mr. Ekita Sam will lead First Aid training. Mr. Lepi Stanley will guide participants through jungle survival skills, and vocational sessions will be led by seasoned trainers within the scouting movement.
Security and welfare will be jointly managed by Scout leaders, Rover Scouts, and welfare officers in coordination with local authorities to ensure the safety of all participants.
Participation is open to all interested youth at a fee of 30,000 shillings, which covers camp activities and administration.
The Soroti District Scouts Council has urged parents, schools, and community leaders to support the initiative, emphasizing that scouting remains a powerful platform for nurturing responsible, skilled, and patriotic citizens.
