A political storm is brewing in Ngariam County, Katakwi District, after State Minister for Sports and Ngariam County MP Hon. Peter Ogwang was allegedly captured on video using harsh language against Town Clerk Fidel Oluka, calling him an “idiot” in remarks that have set social media ablaze and deepened political rifts ahead of the 2025 NRL primary elections.
In the widely circulated video clip, allegedly picked from Minister Ogwang’s TikTok account, he is heard telling a crowd:

“Can you imagine there is an idiot called a town clerk, can you imagine in town there. Some things are painful but I always like keeping quiet. Anyway, I like telling them, I have not started. All I need are you (my voters) . I want to guarantee you where we are going is very clear than where we came from, whether they like it or not. I am a believer and my God will never let me down. That’s why I am happy that when we come together we can fight together.”

The remarks, delivered in a typically fiery campaign-style tone, have sparked outrage among sections of the electorate and civic leaders, who accuse the Minister of disrespecting public servants and lowering the dignity of political discourse.
This is not the first time Minister Ogwang has clashed publicly with Town Clerk Oluka.

During the NRM Local Council I primary elections in Angopet Cell, Ogwang reportedly lambasted Oluka for “calling security to secure electorates,” accusing him of interfering in party processes.
Observers say the latest verbal attack reflects a deteriorating relationship between the two men, with local politics in Ngariam now being coloured by personal feuds that threaten to overshadow pressing development issues.
In a measured response shared with local media, Town Clerk Fidel Oluka expressed dismay at the Minister’s comments, calling for dialogue and lamenting what he described as personal attacks being used to drive political agendas.
“Whatever is happening to me with my big brother Hon. Minister, I don’t understand,” Oluka said. “If he could invite me for a one-on-one sharing the better, I suggest in the presence of any religious leader. Honestly, I feel downtrodden and being used in advancing agendas wrongly.”
Oluka’s statement has drawn sympathy from civil servants and residents who argue that public officers should not be humiliated for doing their jobs.
The war of words comes as Minister Ogwang faces intensifying political competition in Ngariam County.
He is expected to defend his NRM flag in the forthcoming 2026 polls against formidable challengers, including Mr. Daniel Mulalu and Mr. Augustine Otuko, both of whom work at State House as Private Secretaries in charge of political mobilization.
