Soroti East Member of Parliament aspirant under the NRM ticket, Isaac Orego, has extended his support to the ongoing construction of St. Philip Church of Uganda in Opiro Ward, Soroti City.
During a recent church fundraising event, Orego donated cash equivalent to ten bags of cement to aid the building efforts, a contribution that was warmly welcomed by both church leaders and congregants.

The donation, described by church members as timely and impactful, is expected to accelerate the construction process of the church, which has been grappling with limited resources.

“As it has always been said, go to school, get knowledge, and serve the people, that is what I live by,” Orego said during the event, reaffirming his commitment to both community and faith-based development initiatives.
He emphasized that leadership goes beyond politics, highlighting the importance of honoring God and uplifting His work.

“Leadership is about service, and true service starts with honoring God and supporting His work. I will continue to stand with the church in every way I can,” Orego stated.
The NRM-leaning aspirant also urged Christians in the area to support his parliamentary ambitions and to keep him in their prayers as the 2026 election season draws near.
Etapu David, an instrumentalist at the church, hailed Orego’s gesture, noting that it strengthened the bond between the political hopeful and the local faith community.
“His support has given us new hope and strength to continue with the building project,” he remarked.
Agnes Emau, a lay reader at St. Philip Church, expressed deep appreciation for the donation, revealing that the parish has long struggled with low attendance and meager resources.
“Though our numbers are small and our contributions modest, this donation will greatly boost our efforts. We truly thank Mr. Orego for his generosity,” she said.
Emau also offered prayers for Orego, asking for divine guidance and wisdom as he seeks to serve the people of Soroti City East.
