Hon. Emmanuel Omoding has emerged the winner of the highly contested Serere County NRM party primaries, securing the party flag bearer position ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections.
The results, officially announced by the Serere District NRM registrar William Olir, placed Omoding far ahead of his six opponents, Okwii Emmah, Otaala Joseph, Otaala Sam, Omunyokol John Robert, Elogu Lawrence and Etomet Gilbert.

Hon. Omoding, previously serving as an independent Member of Parliament for Serere County following the 2023 by-election, has now cemented his position within the ruling party after obtaining overwhelming support across all sub-counties.

Omoding took to the stage waving the yellow NRM flag high in the air, expressing his gratitude to the people of Serere.
He thanked his campaign team, coordinators and the voters who turned out in large numbers to entrust him with the flag.
The win marks a significant political shift in Serere County, where Omoding, previously an independent, now becomes the official NRM flag bearer, strengthening his chances in the 2026 general elections.
