Hon. Emmanuel Omoding the incumbent Member of Parliament for Serere County has vowed to revive and fund the SACCO savings groups that were initially established by his late father, former MP Patrick Okabe.
Omoding made this pledge while addressing a highly enthusiastic crowd at Opau Iyeng Cell in Kyere Town Council during his ongoing campaign rallies ahead of the NRM primaries scheduled for 17th July.

The initiative known as the “Okabe Foundation,” was originally designed by the late Patrick Okabe to empower local communities economically.

Under this foundation community members were organized into savings and credit cooperative organizations (SACCOs), and each group was given one million shillings as seed capital to improve their livelihoods and boost financial independence.
During his address, Omoding emphasized that some of the groups formed under his father’s leadership were left unfunded due to his untimely death, the groups were to be funded one million shillings (1,000,000/=) each.

He pledged to fund these groups immediately after the elections, promising that they would receive the financial support they were promised.
Furthermore, Omoding committed to adding an extra 500,000 shillings to each SACCO once he returns to Parliament showcasing his dedication to building on his father’s legacy and supporting grassroots economic empowerment.
In a bid to broaden the foundation’s impact, Omoding announced plans to establish additional SACCOs that will include men and youth stating that development should be inclusive and benefit all community segments.
“Development must reach every corner. It should not be limited to a few groups or individuals for economic growth,” he declared amid loud cheers from supporters.
His message resonated strongly with the people of Kyere Town Council who turned up in large numbers to show their support.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement as Omoding was welcomed with songs and chants, a clear indication of the growing momentum his campaign is gaining as the election day draws closer.
Omoding also used the rally as an opportunity to rally voters to turn up in large numbers on 17th July to secure his victory in the NRM primaries and grant him the mandate to carry the party flag in the forthcoming general elections.
He urged the people of Serere to continue supporting him so that he can continue implementing community-centered programs and bring more development to the county.
“As we approach the NRM primaries, I urge all of you to come out and vote. Together we can continue to build a stronger Serere where every citizen can thrive,” Omoding appealed.
The MP’s commitment to community empowerment through SACCOs reflects his focus on sustainable development as a tool to uplift the economic status of Serere residents.
Many locals still recall how the Okabe Foundation’s initial programs changed lives by enabling small businesses to flourish and supporting families to meet their basic needs.
