With drums beating, cultural dances electrifying the air, and crowds chanting his name, Hon. Emmanuel Omoding officially launched his campaign for re-election as Member of Parliament for Serere County ahead of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries scheduled for July 17.
The colorful event, held on July 2, marked the beginning of a vigorous campaign trail that promises to ignite the political atmosphere in Serere District.

Omoding, who is the incumbent MP, began his campaign with a triumphant entry into Olio Sub-county where he visited the parishes of Akusi, Akoboi and Okulonyo.

Residents, adorned in party colors and traditional attire, turned up in large numbers to show their unwavering support.
In his address, Hon. Omoding expressed profound gratitude to the people of Serere County for the trust they placed in him during the 2023 by-election, following the untimely death of his father the late Patrick Okabe.

The late Okabe, who had been a beloved representative left behind a legacy that Omoding pledged to uphold and even surpass.
“Your trust in me during the by-election was not in vain. I came in at a difficult time and in just two years, we have started seeing positive changes,” Omoding said,
“Now, I am seeking a full five year mandate to transform Serere County further and deliver on my promises.”
Omoding outlined his ambitious plan for the county, vowing to improve infrastructure, enhance access to healthcare and education and create economic opportunities for youth and women.
He stressed that with a full term, he would be able to implement long term development projects that would uplift all sectors and make Serere a model constituency in Teso Sub region.
The atmosphere in Olio Sub-county was electrifying.
Traditional troupes performed captivating cultural dances while youthful groups showcased modern dance moves, all in honor of their MP.
Many locals described Omoding’s visit as a moment of renewed hope and inspiration for the county’s future.
“Our son has returned to ask for our blessing once again. We are happy with what he has achieved so far and we believe he can do more,” remarked Ben Ocen one elder from Akusi parish
Omoding reminded voters that his closest rival, Philip Oucor had shifted his political base to Pingire County, leaving the Serere NRM flag bearer race.
With confidence, Omoding declared himself the clear favorite to carry the party flag into the 2026 general elections.
“I am not just a candidate, I am your son, your brother, and your servant. I am ready to continue serving you with commitment and integrity,” he assured.
