The incumbent Member of Parliament for Serere County, Hon. Emmanuel Omoding has secured an overwhelming victory in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries, according to provisional results released from different polling stations.
With the majority of votes counted from all polling stations across Serere County, Hon. Omoding emerged with an emphatic lead, securing about 80% of the total valid votes cast.

The results affirm his strong grip on the political landscape of the county and reflect the confidence the electorate has in his leadership and track record.

The announcement sparked wild celebrations in towns and villages across Serere.
Supporters in Kyere, Atiira, kateta, Olio and other sub-counties poured into trading centres singing victory songs, waving banners, NRM flags emblazoned with Omoding’s name and image.

Omoding’s success didn’t come as a surprise to many.
Over the past weeks, he dominated the campaign trail with well organized rallies that drew thousands.
His ability to connect with the grassroots, revisit every sub-county and articulate a people-centred agenda gave him a commanding edge.
During his final rally before voting day, which took place on July 15, Hon. Omoding crisscrossed the entire county, visiting all town councils and sub-counties.
His grand finale was marked by a heroic welcome at Omagoro in Kyere Sub-county and Kamusala in kateta subcouty, where enthusiastic crowds received him with dancing, drumming, and waving placards of support.
The campaign period also witnessed significant shifts in political allegiance with many supporters from rival camps particularly those of Mr. Oucor and Mr. Okwii, defecting to Omoding’s side.
In Kakusi Ward alone, 83 supporters of Okwii and 118 of Oucor officially crossed over and pledged their loyalty to the incumbent.
Titus Okello, Chairperson of the NRM Entertainment League in Serere District, described the mass defections as a “clear signal that the tide had shifted in favour of Omoding.”
He added, “People realised that Omoding’s camp is not only organised but also focused on delivering real change.”
Omoding ran on a platform of continuing the development agenda initiated by his late father, Hon. Patrick Okabe, while injecting fresh energy into projects like rural electrification, road improvement, education and health care.
One of the major highlights of his campaign was the pledge to revive and fund SACCO groups under the Okabe Foundation, an initiative aimed at strengthening household incomes and financial resilience across the county.
He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every parish benefits from community development programs.
With the primaries now behind him, Hon. Omoding is poised to carry the NRM flag into the 2026 general elections.
Political analysts note that with such a strong mandate from the party base, he now has a solid foundation to campaign confidently for re-election.
The Electoral Commission is expected to confirm and gazette the official results in the evening. However, the margin of Omoding’s win leaves little room for dispute.
