The incumbent Member of Parliament for Serere County, Hon. Emmanuel Omoding has come out strongly to dismiss what he described as “propaganda” being spread against him as he intensifies his campaign trail ahead of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries.
While addressing crowds in several villages including Asilang Parish, Attira Sub-county headquarters, Opure and Omugenya all within Attira Sub-county, Omoding reassured voters that he remains committed to serving Serere and urged them to ignore malicious rumors designed to tarnish his image and derail his campaign.

One of the major accusations Omoding addressed was the claim that he does not possess the necessary academic qualifications to stand for the parliamentary seat.

He reminded the people of Serere that during the recent by-election he was successfully nominated after fulfilling all the requirements set by the Electoral Commission.
“Some individuals are moving around telling you that I don’t have the required papers of being a member of Parliament. But I want to ask them during the recent by-election, why didn’t they stop me from being nominated if I lacked qualifications? The truth is, I fulfilled all the requirements and that is why I was allowed to run,” Omoding emphasized drawing loud applause from the crowd.

He further explained that being an MP is not only about academic papers but also about having networks and connections that enable a leader to effectively lobby for development projects and resources for their constituency.
“I have built strong networks and that is why we are seeing visible progress in Serere. I have worked tirelessly to bring tangible results to this county,” he added.
Another rumor Omoding firmly dismissed was the claim that he plans to “sell” Serere County to Australians if re-elected. With a mix of humor and seriousness, he reminded the voters that such a thing is legally and practically impossible.
“How can anyone even imagine selling a county? This is pure propaganda meant to confuse and mislead you.
Omoding also addressed the allegations that he cannot speak Ateso.
He reminded crowds that throughout his rallies and public meetings, he has always communicated in fluent Ateso, connecting easily with the people at the grassroots level.
“My people haven’t seen me addressing you in Ateso everywhere I go. Those who say I cannot speak Ateso are simply trying sow seeds of doubt among you about me,” he explained.
The MP urged the people of Serere to remain focused and not allow themselves to be deceived with propaganda.
He called on them to stand firm with him as he continues to advocate for their interests both within and beyond the county.
“Let us reject all forms of propaganda aimed at pulling us down. Stand with me so that we can continue to build a stronger more developed Serere together,” Omoding said passionately.
Meanwhile, the Serere District NRM Registrar, William Olir, issued a stern warning to all candidates taking part in the ongoing campaigns.
Speaking at Attira subcouty headquarters, Olir cautioned all aspirants against the use of abusive language and personal attacks on their opponents.
“We want to maintain peaceful campaigns. Any candidate found using abusive language or inciting violence will face immediate disqualification from the race,” Olir warned.
He also emphasized that candidates must take responsibility for the actions of their supporters.
“Please control your supporters. Do not allow them to cause chaos or create unnecessary conflicts. If your supporters engage in violent acts it will reflect on you as a candidate and may lead to disciplinary measures,” he added.
