The fishing communities of Kalaki district have rallied behind Asako Monica for Woman Member of Parliament in the National Resistance Movement Party race.
Her social and economic transformation manifesto has struck a chord with local residents, framing it as her social pact with the people.

While campaigning on July 13, 2025, in the parishes of Kibimbo, Bululu, and Abola, Asako made significant promises to protect fishermen from exploitation.

During her visit to the Bukia landing site, fishermen welcomed her with chants of praise, recognizing her dedication to their livelihoods.
“When I am elected, I will advocate for policies that shield our fishermen. I have strong ties with influential figures in security, since my late father, Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka, was the Director of the Internal Security Organization,” Asako assured the crowd.

“You have my word that you won’t face exploitation.”
In addition to safeguarding the fishing industry, Asako pledged to introduce economic livelihood projects aimed at uplifting the community.
She lauded the citizens of Bululu for their law-abiding nature and emphasized their pivotal role in her vision for a prosperous community.
Central to her comprehensive manifesto are key commitments to transparency and accountability in leadership, enhancing access to quality healthcare, improving educational standards, and empowering local women entrepreneurs, particularly in agriculture and crafts.
“I am dedicated to empowering both women and youth,” Asako declared passionately, a sentiment that resonated deeply with her audience.
When assessing her capabilities, Asako stands out for her lobbying, representation, oversight, and legislative skills, core responsibilities of a Member of Parliament.
These strengths position her as a formidable candidate compared to her opponents, making her a beacon of hope for the fishing communities of Kalaki district as they look toward a brighter future.
