The Teso Professional MCs Association has received a major financial boost after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni extended support worth UGX 100 million to their SACCO.
The announcement was made on Wednesday during a strategic meeting of the Association held in Soroti City.

The gathering brought together dozens of members from across the Teso sub-region, who convened to discuss the strengthening of the Association’s structures, expand their socio-economic activities, and chart ways of contributing more effectively to national development.

The Chairperson of the Association, Mr. Musa Oroma, broke the news to members, describing the President’s contribution as a transformative step towards empowering creative professionals in Teso.
“We are deeply grateful to the President for recognizing the potential of creative professionals in Teso and supporting our SACCO with one hundred million shillings,” Mr. Oroma said, drawing applause from the gathering.

“This is a transformative gesture that not only strengthens our financial base but also demonstrates the value placed on youth and talent development. It is a signal that government is ready to recognize the creative arts as a vital contributor to socio-economic development.”
He further encouraged members to remain united, focused, and active in mobilizing support for national development initiatives, noting that the President’s consistent commitment to empowering grassroots organizations has made a significant difference across various sectors.
The financial support is expected to be channeled through the Association’s SACCO, where it will provide affordable credit and financial services to members.
This will enable MCs and other creatives to invest in their businesses, expand entrepreneurial ventures, and promote professional growth.
Mr. Oroma emphasized that beyond the entertainment role, professional MCs in Teso have the capacity to create jobs, inspire youth, and contribute to community cohesion.
He called on members to use the funds responsibly, ensuring accountability and sustainable growth of the SACCO.
“This is not just money; it is seed capital for transformation. If we manage it well, our Association can grow into one of the leading examples of how creatives can be a force for economic empowerment,” he added.
Members of the Association also resolved to step up their involvement in community development initiatives.
This includes supporting education, youth mentorship, talent nurturing, and promoting responsible civic participation.
“Being an MC is more than holding a microphone at events. We are influencers, role models, and leaders in our own right. With this support, we intend to use our voices not only to entertain but also to educate, inspire, and mobilize communities for development,” one member noted during the discussions.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to build stronger networks across the region, enhance professionalism in the creative arts, and align with government programs aimed at boosting youth empowerment and job creation.
President Museveni’s financial contribution is seen as part of a broader recognition of the creative industry in Uganda, which continues to grow as a key driver of employment and social transformation.
Over the years, the government has extended support to musicians, comedians, actors, and other creatives, acknowledging their role in shaping public opinion and national identity.
By extending this support to the Teso Professional MCs Association, the President has reaffirmed his government’s interest in harnessing the potential of creatives in advancing the development agenda.
The Teso Professional MCs Association is a collective of masters of ceremonies, entertainers, and creatives drawn from different districts in the Teso sub-region.
The Association seeks to promote professionalism, unity, and socio-economic empowerment through the creative arts.
It also serves as a platform for building networks, sharing opportunities, and raising the standards of event hosting and entertainment in the region.
“We see this as the beginning of a new chapter. We are determined to prove that the creative industry in Teso can be both professional and impactful. With the President’s support, we are ready to lead by example,” Mr. Oroma concluded.

WHY NOW?
It’s not bad to support causes for development.
But what’s wrong is noninstitutional use of public funds especially for selfish political accomplishments.
What’s wrong is dishing public money for votes. What’s wrong is using public funds as BRIBES to win an election!!!
