The Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) Paramount Chief, His Highness Emorimor, has blessed Ssewava Mukasa S.J as he seeks to contest for the position of NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) National Vice Chairman for the Central Region (Buganda).
In a meeting held in Soroti, Ssewava received the traditional blessing from the Emorimor, a gesture he described as a deep honor and a sign of unity between the Buganda region and the Teso sub-region.

Speaking after the blessing, Ssewava called upon Ugandans to celebrate the achievements of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

“I am humbled by this blessing from His Highness the Emorimor. It reaffirms the spirit of unity and brotherhood among Ugandans regardless of regional differences,” Ssewava said.
He commended the people of Teso for consistently standing with President Museveni and for embracing unity over division.

According to him, the willingness of Teso leaders and citizens to work with the President has contributed to development programs reaching communities across the country.
Ssewava noted that the NRM government has demonstrated a commitment to service delivery, praising President Museveni as a leader who avoids making empty promises.
“President Museveni is not a man who promises air. He listens to the plight of the people and acts on their concerns. That is why we continue to see programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and universal education benefiting millions,” he said.
He further extended gratitude to Uganda’s cultural leaders, appreciating them for their unwavering support toward national development initiatives.

He observed that cultural institutions have played a crucial role in mobilizing citizens to embrace government programs aimed at poverty eradication and socio-economic transformation.
Ssewava also used the occasion to appeal to the public to focus on issues that unite the country rather than those that divide it, emphasizing that the NRM’s track record should be celebrated rather than overshadowed by political bickering.
If elected as CEC Vice Chairman for the Central Region, Ssewava pledged to strengthen grassroots mobilization, ensure that party structures remain active, and promote developmental programs that align with the NRM’s vision of transforming Uganda into a middle-income country.
The NRM CEC serves as the party’s top decision-making body, with regional vice chairpersons playing a critical role in coordinating activities and building political consensus in their respective regions.
The Central Region, which covers the Buganda sub-region, is considered a politically influential area, and the position is highly contested within party ranks.
“I carry this blessing with the hope that we can work together, across all regions, to ensure that Uganda continues on the path of peace, development, and prosperity for all,” he concluded.
