As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries draw closer, political momentum is steadily building in Soroti City, Okwii John Junior Ekutelek, who is currently serving as a youth councilor on the Soroti City Council, received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from voters during his homecoming visit in Soroti City East.
The aspiring MP is seeking the NRM party flag for Soroti City East Division, and his door-to-door engagement was marked by jubilation and overwhelming support from residents.

His presence has attracted attention across the political divide, with supporters rallying behind his candidacy, sparking concern among rival camps.

Ekutelek urged the electorate to vote in large numbers during the NRM primaries scheduled for 16th June.
He emphasized voting for individuals based on integrity and commitment, rather than political affiliations alone.

In a humble and heartfelt moment, Ekutelek asked for forgiveness from voters for any past wrongs, including any committed by his family members, and pledged to represent the people of Soroti City without discrimination.
“I appeal to you, my voters, do not betray me or put me to shame, as I will never betray you, I’m ready to serve you with transparency and accountability,” he stated.
Addressing the crowd, Ekutelek thanked his supporters for their trust and promised to stand by the people.
He committed to advocating for development, voicing people’s concerns, and being a leader grounded in action.
“I will always make you proud, I understand the challenges facing both the youth and elderly and i am determined to walk with you toward finding solutions,” he promised,
Ekutelek who is known for his bold mobilization style has emerged as the face of a new generation of leadership one centered on grassroots transformation, transparency, and public service.
“I’m not here to play politics, I’m here to represent you and deliver results,” he boldly declared.
Central to his campaign agenda is the rehabilitation of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare.
He also plans to tackle youth unemployment through vocational training, entrepreneurship programs, and better access to start-up capital offering a practical and inclusive economic empowerment plan.
What distinguishes Ekutelek further is his firm commitment to accountability. He has vowed to lead by example in fighting corruption, even inviting scrutiny into his own office if elected.
“You can’t demand accountability from others if you can’t apply it to yourself,” he concluded.
