The districts of Kapelebyong and Bukedea have officially endorsed Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, in her bid to become the 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC).
During a final mobilization tour in the Teso sub-region, Arinaitwe Rwakajara, the national team leader lobbying for Hon. Anita’s candidacy, confirmed the widespread endorsements received from delegates across the country.

Speaking to Delegates in both Kapelebyong and Bukedea, Rwakajara expressed confidence in a landslide victory for the Speaker.

“I’m glad to be here on behalf of Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, who has sent me to deliver her message of love, gratitude, and her request for your support,” Rwakajara said.
“Everywhere I have gone, our candidate has been endorsed the process is going smoothly, and we are confident of victory.”

Despite her absence due to official duties, Hon. Anita Among sent greetings and heartfelt appreciation to the delegates, noting her deep love for the people of Teso and commitment to serve both the party and the country.
In her message delivered by Rwakajara, she emphasized the strategic importance of her candidature: “I request for your support and vote for the 2nd National Female Vice Chairperson seat, this is a key position not only for the party but also for the Teso sub-region, holding this seat gives us significant influence, placing us third in the country’s leadership structure.” he said
He reminded delegates that the NRM CEC is the party’s top governing organ and will play a central role in shaping Uganda’s political future in the next five years, especially during the anticipated national transition.
Ipalat Patrick, NRM Chairperson for Kapelebyong, praised the Speaker’s leadership, stating that under the NRM, the district has seen restored peace and development.
He emphasized the need for energetic and visionary leaders like Hon. Anita to hold key positions in the party.
The event was also graced by LC5 Chairperson Francis Akorikin, who pledged 99% of Kapelebyong’s vote for Hon. Anita Among.
“We are fully behind her. On August 27th, I will be voting for her as CEC Vice Chairperson and again in May for Speaker. As a young and developing district, we must show unity and avoid chaos that could derail our progress,” Akorikin urged.
Bukedea County NRM flag bearer, Becham David Okwere, also rallied strong support for the Speaker, calling her a symbol of progress.
“We are privileged to have a Speaker from Teso. Her leadership has brought visible growth in Bukedea and across the country. Her election to CEC will be a major step forward for our region and a chance we cannot afford to miss,” he said.
Delegates at the event raised a number of concerns they asked to be passed on to the Speaker, including:
- Low government funding (under UGX 15 billion)
- Lack of political appointments for the district
- Demand for a second constituency
- Increased beneficiaries for the Presidential Industrial Hub
- Need for startup materials for youth
- Compensation for Teso war victims
- Infrastructure development including road equipment
- Improved healthcare services
- Establishment of a technical school
- Increased national grant allocation.
In response, Rwakajara promised to deliver all these issues directly to the Speaker, assuring the people of Teso that their voices would be heard and addressed.
“I will deliver your concerns without fear or favour. Hon. Anita Annet Among holds a very important office and is committed to transforming your lives through action and advocacy.” he promised
