Thousands of excited residents in Soroti City on Tuesday Afternoon poured onto the streets to welcome David Calvin Echodu, the NRM flag bearer for Soroti City West Division, as he made his way to Pamba Primary School for the official launch of his long-awaited parliamentary campaign.
Echodu, who has been quietly holding community meetings and strategic consultations over the past weeks, stepped out publicly today to begin his first major rally, drawing overwhelming enthusiasm from supporters, boda boda riders, youth groups, women leaders, and party loyalists.

By 1PM, crowds gathered along Soroti – Mbale road, singing, dancing, and waving NRM flags as they escorted him to the venue.

Many described the day as a turning point for Soroti City West.
“We have been waiting for this moment. Echodu has been serving us even before becoming an MP. Today we have come to show him that we are fully behind him,” said one excited supporter from Pamba Ward.

The massive turnout reflects rising confidence in Echodu’s candidature, with many residents praising him for his commitment, community support initiatives, and his work alongside the NRM top leadership.
NRM Soroti City Chairperson John Enomu, who is also managing Echodu’s campaign team, said the support displayed today is a clear message that Soroti City West is ready for change and ready to back the party’s official candidate.
“People love David Calvin Echodu because they have seen his works, his humility, and his dedication to serving the community. Today’s reception shows that the people are prepared to walk with him on this journey to Parliament,” Enomu said shortly before joining the procession.
He added that the rally at Pamba Primary School marks the beginning of an intensive campaign trail that will cover all wards in Soroti City West Division.
Despite the scorching sun, the crowds continued to swell as Echodu’s convoy approached Pamba.
Several business owners temporarily closed their shops to join the procession, while others stood by the roadside to wave as the candidate passed.
Local youth groups also organized drums, vuvuzelas, and traditional dances, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the city.
“We are here voluntarily. No one ferried us. We came because we believe Echodu will bring development and represent us well.”
At Pamba Primary School, Echodu is expected to unveil his official campaign agenda, outlining key priorities such as youth empowerment, improved service delivery, enhanced education support, and infrastructure development for Soroti City West.
Security has been tightened around the venue as thousands continue to arrive for the rally.
By 3PM, the school grounds were already filling up, with organizers predicting one of the largest political gatherings in Soroti City West in recent years.
