Adrine Kobusingye has been declared winner of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Women’s League elections after securing a landslide victory.
According to the official results announced by the NRM Electoral Commission, Kobusingye polled 1,839 votes, sweeping past her rivals by an overwhelming margin.

Her closest challenger, Faridah Kibowa, managed 670 votes, while Sarah Ochieng garnered 19 votes. Faridah Nakalawo and Kyanika Rehema trailed with 3 and 2 votes respectively.

In a dramatic turn of events, the incumbent Hon. Lydia Wanyoto, who has been at the helm of the NRM Women’s League, withdrew from the race ahead of the polls, paving way for fresh leadership.
The election, which drew wide interest across the country, marks a significant shift in the women’s wing of the ruling party, with Kobusingye now expected to steer the league towards energizing the grassroots women’s structures ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Party officials hailed the polls as peaceful and a demonstration of the NRM’s commitment to internal democracy.
