Arua Catholic Diocese has received high praise from the Vatican for its exceptional transparency and accountability in financial management.
In a letter dated January 7, 2025, from the Vatican’s Department of Evangelization, signed by Cardinal Tylor Luis Antonio, the diocese was formally recognized for its fiscal responsibility.

The commendation letter, received by Bishop Sabino Ocan Odoki on February 22, 2025, highlighted the diocese’s financial integrity following a thorough review of its records from 2022 to June 2024.

The Vatican noted that Arua Diocese consistently achieved a revenue surplus during this period, demonstrating its commitment to prudent financial management and stability.
According to the Vatican’s assessment, the diocese’s responsible stewardship of funds has allowed it to effectively support pastoral programs, social projects, and community development initiatives.

This has not only strengthened its financial health but also ensured continued support for key sectors such as education, healthcare, and charitable works.
In response to the recognition, Bishop Odoki expressed gratitude to Pope Francis and the Vatican, attributing the achievement to the dedication of clergy, staff, and the faithful.
He reaffirmed the diocese’s commitment to upholding transparency, saying, “Good financial management is essential in advancing the Church’s mission, and we will continue to be accountable to both God and the people we serve.”
