As preparations for the 3rd Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor III, Paul Sande Etomeileng Emolot, reach their peak, the Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) has received a significant boost from the Bank of Uganda (BOU), which has contributed Shs. 10 million towards the grand celebration.
The financial contribution was confirmed by the ICU Prime Minister, Mr. Andrew Ocole, who revealed that the Bank’s support comes as a timely gesture to facilitate the smooth organization of the highly anticipated event.

“We are grateful to the Bank of Uganda for coming on board to support this year’s coronation anniversary. Their contribution of ten million shillings will go a long way in helping us meet key logistical needs and ensuring that the event is successfully organized,” Ocole said.

The 3rd Coronation Anniversary of the Emorimor is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 25th October 2025, at Emokori Grounds in Bukedea District.
The event is expected to attract thousands of people from across the Teso Sub-region and beyond, including cultural leaders, government officials, development partners, and the general public.

This year’s celebrations are being held under the theme “Educating the Girl and the Boy Child”, a call that resonates with the cultural institution’s ongoing commitment to promoting education and gender equality across the Teso community.
According to the organizers, the theme highlights the importance of offering equal educational opportunities to both girls and boys as a means of empowering future generations and fostering sustainable development within the region.
“The Iteso Cultural Union is not only celebrating its cultural heritage but also taking the lead in advocating for inclusive education,” Mr. Ocole added.
“Our focus is to remind the community that both the girl and the boy child deserve an equal chance to learn, grow, and contribute to society.”
In addition to the coronation anniversary, the event will also mark the official launch of the Akaliait Development Foundation (AKADEF), an initiative championed by Her Royal Highness, Toto Akaliait Juliet Among Emolot.
The Foundation aims to improve livelihoods in the areas of healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and community development, with a special emphasis on uplifting women and children.
The launch of AKADEF Is expected to draw key stakeholders from various sectors, including government agencies, NGOs, and health partners who have been part of the Foundation’s ongoing health outreach programs in the Teso Sub-region.
The Emorimor’s coronation anniversary remains one of the most prestigious events in the cultural calendar of the Iteso people.
It celebrates unity, heritage, and the leadership of Papa Emorimor III, who has continuously emphasized peace, education, and socio-economic transformation within the region.
