The Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish, Rev. Fr. Romanos Etwap, has called on Christians to become new creatures in Jesus Christ by reconciling with God and others.
He emphasized that forgiveness is key to living a life of happiness and spiritual renewal.

Fr. Etwap made these remarks while delivering his homily today, urging the faithful to let go of unforgiveness, which he said causes people to live in pain.

He encouraged Christians to offload their burdens and return to Christ for a renewed relationship with God.
Referencing the story of the prodigal son in the Gospel of Luke, Fr. Etwap reminded Christians that God calls everyone to reconciliation.

He cautioned against holding grudges, stating that doing so prevents believers from enjoying the goodness of God.
“Do not be stuck with grudges. People come into our lives not to offend us, but sometimes we are the ones who hold onto old grievances,” he said.
The priest stressed that the decision to embrace a new lifestyle in Christ is essential for restoring relationships.
“Every sin destroys our relationship with God and others,” he noted, underscoring the need for repentance and transformation.
Fr. Etwap also highlighted the significance of the parable of the prodigal son, explaining that it illustrates Jesus Christ’s mission to save both the just and sinners.
“The God of Jesus grants salvation to all. He organizes a feast for those who are sad and have walked away. We are called to reconcile with one another, for when we don’t, we shall be sick with sin,” he remarked.
As the Lenten season continues, Fr. Etwap’s homily serves as a reminder of forgiveness in fostering peace and unity among Christians.
The call for reconciliation comes at a time when many individuals and communities struggle with division, making Fr. Etwap’s message particularly relevant.
He further urged believers to embrace a fresh start in Christ, reaffirming that true happiness lies in forgiveness and love for one another.
