The Soroti Catholic Diocese Annual Youth Conference begins today at the Shalom Youth Centre in Soroti, with over 8,000 young people expected to attend.
This year’s gathering promises to be an inspiring and transformative event for the youth of the Diocese, with a focus on spiritual renewal, fellowship, and growth.

In his message to the youth, Rev. Fr. Marcel Ajoket, the Diocesan Director of Communications, expressed his deep gratitude for the contributions made by the youth to the Diocese.

He acknowledged their dedication in both spiritual and material support, which continues to advance the work of the Church in the region.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for the remarkable contributions you have made towards the growth of our Diocese, in both spiritual and material aspects,” said Fr. Ajoket.

“Your commitment and dedication to the Church, both financially and in service, continue to bear witness to the good work of the Lord among us. May God bless you for all your efforts.”
Fr. Ajoket invited all youth from across the Teso Sub-region to take part in the conference, which will run from December 10 to 14.
He described the event as a unique opportunity for spiritual enrichment and personal growth.
“This event is a time for spiritual renewal, fellowship, and growth. I implore all the youth to join us in this significant event and experience the blessings it holds for you,” he said.
In addition to his invitation, Fr. Ajoket emphasized the importance of living in accordance with Christian values.
He urged the youth to remain steadfast in their faith, collaborate with the Church, and steer clear of harmful practices such as idolatry, theft, fornication, and other vices.
He called on the young people to be true witnesses of God’s love and live with integrity.
As part of the conference’s theme, Fr. Ajoket also encouraged parents within the Diocese to send their children to participate, noting the potential for them to emulate the virtues of the conference’s patron saint, St. Aloysius Gonzaga.
Known for his purity, humility, and zeal in serving God and others, St. Aloysius’ example will inspire the youth throughout the event.
“I encourage all parents to send their children to the conference, as it will be an invaluable opportunity for them to emulate the virtues of our patron saint, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, who dedicated his life to serving God and others with purity, humility, and zeal,” Fr. Ajoket said.
The conference is expected to strengthen the youth’s spiritual bonds, foster unity within the Diocese, and provide a platform for meaningful discussions and activities centered on faith, morality, and community development.
