The Regional Assistant Mufti for Teso–Karamoja Region, His Eminence Sheikh Obilan Abubakar Umar, has showered praise on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his continued support towards the growth and development of the Muslim community in Uganda.
Speaking during opening prayers at Emokor Grounds in Bukedea District, where the President held his final campaign rally in the Teso region, Sheikh Obilan, representing the Mufti of Uganda, H.E Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, commended the President for his unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and prosperity in the country.

Sheikh Obilan, in his message of appreciation from Mufti Mubaje, thanked the President for the UGX 2 billion recently released to support the Muslim Women SACCO, the 100 Hajji and Umrah statehouse sponsorships, and the planned SACCO fund for Imams (Mosque leaders).

He said these efforts have uplifted the faith community and strengthened their participation in national development.
The Sheikh also reminded the President of his earlier pledges made during the State House Iftar dinner in March, where the Head of State promised him a car and ten tractors for the regional Muslim offices.

“It should be remembered that Sheikh Obilan is the one who early this year in March preached during the Muslim State House Iftar dinner and the President promised him a car and 10 tractors for the ten Muslim regional offices,” Sheikh Obilan said.
He urged the President to honour these pledges, saying they would further empower Muslim-led initiatives across the country.
He also added that the Muslim community is happy with the President’s leadership and is mobilizing for support to the President while encouraging people to embrace government programs.
“Our Muslim community is very happy with your leadership, Your Excellency,” Sheikh Obilan said. “We are mobilizing our people to support government programmes like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga so that every believer can be part of the journey to wealth creation.”
The congregation cheered in agreement as Sheikh Obilan prayed for more blessings upon the President and the nation, saying Uganda continues to enjoy peace and unity under the wise stewardship of President Museveni.
