The Regional Assistant to the Mufti (RAM) for the Teso-Karamoja Muslim region, His Eminence Sheikh Obilan Abubakar Umar and Uganda’s State Minister for Fisheries Hellen Adoa have urged the Muslims and Christians to embrace peace, unity, dignity, and love among themselves.
While leading Eid Al-Fitr prayers at Swaria Primary School grounds, Sheikh Obilan emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence.

He reminded the congregation of the values exhibited during the holy month of Ramadan, highlighting the need for Muslims to continue fostering kindness, generosity, and harmony.

“During the holy month of Ramadan, we witnessed Muslims being calm, peaceful, and sharing. They were actively spreading kindness and generosity. This is the same message I want to emphasize today, let us continue to embody these values,” Sheikh Obilan said.
He further noted that love is the foundation of generosity, stating, “If you have love, then you can give to another person, and if you share that love, you can expect reciprocity.”

Sheikh Obilan urged both Muslims and Christians to show love and unity among themselves, as instructed by Allah.
He also encouraged gratitude, stating that one must appreciate and love what they have to fully benefit from it.
Sheikh Obilan led the Eid Al-Fitr prayers in Swaria Primary School on Sunday, March 30, 2025, marking the end of Ramadan.
Muslims had begun their fasting season on March 1, 2025, and ended it upon the official sighting of the new moon, as announced by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council through Dr. Ziyad Lubanga, the Director of Sharia.
“We need to spread love to one another so that the love can be reciprocated to us,” he stated.
He urged Muslims to wish each other well and contribute positively to society.
Citing several Qur’anic verses and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), Sheikh Obilan emphasized that the world would be at peace if people wished for their neighbors what they wished for themselves.
“You have no reason to hate one another because of the favors God has given someone else. Let those who have share their blessings with the less privileged, so we can achieve a harmonious society,” he added.
“The same Allah/God we served during fasting remains the same Allah we should continue serving even after completing the holy month of Ramadan,” Sheikh Obilan concluded.
On her Part Minister Adoa in her message to both Christians that has been widely shared via social media platforms expressed that Eid is a time of gratitude, reflection, and unity, and a moment to celebrate the values of love, sacrifice, and generosity that bind us together as one people.
“As we come together in celebration, let us also reaffirm our commitment to peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians. Uganda is a nation built on diversity, and it is through mutual respect, understanding, and harmony that we can achieve progress and prosperity for all,” Adoa said.
She concluded in her message to rally all Uganda’s to continue with supporting one another, embrace our differences, and work towards a future of peace and unity.
