Amuria District politicians have hailed His Royal Highness Paul Sande Emolot, the Emorimor of the Iteso Cultural Union (ICU), for his visit to the district, describing it as a significant step in promoting cultural heritage and development.
Emorimor is on a three-day visit to Amuria to mobilize his subjects in support of the activities of ICU.

Among the key figures praising his visit is Emmy Olaboro Ejuku, the Orungo County MP aspirant, who emphasized its importance in reinforcing the culture of Orungo and the broader Iteso community.

“The visit of Papa Emorimor to Orungo is a huge achievement for this community because he has come to emphasize our cultural values,” Ejuku stated.
“Iteso are known for their decent dressing, with long-flowing garments for both men and women. His presence reminds us to uphold our traditions, including our unique clothing, food, and values.”

Ejuku also highlighted Emorimor’s advocacy for education.
“He has inspired us to improve education standards. Last year, only four children in this county achieved first grade. By following his footsteps, I am confident we will see better results. I have started by providing books and food supplies to ensure children stay in school,” he added.
Similarly, Ajore Ann Grace Opolot, the Woman MP aspirant for Amuria District, praised Emorimor’s efforts, calling them a landmark initiative for cultural restoration.
“I am deeply encouraged by what Papa Emorimor is doing. This visit is resurrecting our lost cultural identity. Many Iteso have lost their pride in their heritage, and even our language is disappearing. However, through his leadership, we are seeing a revival of our traditions,” Opolot said.
She also underscored the role of family and clans in the Iteso culture, emphasizing that cultural identity strengthens the community.
“In the past, Iteso were known for hard work and food security. Respect for elders was paramount. We are glad that through Emorimor’s leadership, these values are being restored.”
Meanwhile, Emorimor urged his subjects in Orungo to vote for leaders who support ICU programs and to shun those who seek to divide the Iteso community.
His call for unity and cultural preservation has been well received, reinforcing his role as a unifying figure for the Iteso people.
