Former NRM presidential aspirant Vincent Ntalo Gonzaga has issued a strong call for leadership reform within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), citing deep rooted corruption and complacency among current leaders, especially within the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
Ntalo, known for his bold political stance, criticized the existing NRM CEC leadership, accusing members of abandoning their core mandate of promoting party ideology and instead focusing on personal enrichment.

He particularly questioned the performance of the National Vice Chairperson for Eastern Region, a position currently held by Capt. Mike Mukula.

“Many of our leaders have slept on their duties, they are enriching themselves instead of building the party. The CEC is meant to promote ideology and development, not to chase after allowances,” Ntalo stated
As the NRM gears up for its CEC elections, Ntalo has thrown his weight behind younger, more energetic candidates, urging the party to embrace change and offer space for fresh leadership.

In the Eastern Region, he expressed support for David Calvin Echodu, who is challenging Mukula for the vice chairperson seat.
“Mukula has served, but what change has he brought? It’s all history and persuasive politics. Let us give Echodu the opportunity to bring new ideas to the table,” he added.
In the same breath, Ntalo highlighted the intense contest for the 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female), currently drawing attention due to the rivalry between former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga and current Speaker Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among where he demands vote for Anita
Ntalo was unapologetic in his criticism, labeling some CEC leaders as “criminals” who must be removed from office for the party to retain its integrity.
“Leadership is not owned. It’s for the people. If someone else is ready to lead, we must allow them. It’s time for new energy,” he emphasized.
Beyond party politics, Ntalo voiced serious concerns about rampant corruption across Uganda, particularly in budget allocations and resource distribution by local authorities and financial committees.
While distancing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni from corruption claims, Ntalo blamed the president’s close allies for mismanaging public funds.
“President Museveni is not corrupt. It’s his allies who are embezzling funds. Corruption has grown wings because officials now engage in it to secure government jobs and benefits,” he said.
He also criticized Uganda’s multi-party political system, calling it a drain on public resources, especially during campaign seasons.
Ntalo cited the example of parties like the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), which split from the FDC, accusing them of chasing personal benefits rather than advocating for citizens’ needs.
“The government spends so much funding campaigns for political parties that are only interested in their own gain. We must reassess the effectiveness of multiparty politics in Uganda,” he noted.
Ntalo concluded by urging NRM members and citizens to embrace change and support capable, honest, and development minded leaders ahead of the CEC elections.
