Minister of State for Works and Transport, Musa Francis Ecweru, has commended Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng for his transformative leadership in the Iteso Cultural Union (ICU), describing his tenure as a period of renewed hope and unity for the Iteso people.
Speaking at the burial of the late Jones Eceru Oluma, the former ICU Deputy Prime Minister, Ecweru praised Emorimor for his commitment to education, economic empowerment, and security, which have significantly strengthened the cultural institution.

The minister noted that despite Emorimor’s relatively short tenure of two years, his leadership has left a lasting mark on the ICU and the wider Teso region.

Ecweru lauded Emorimor’s efforts in revitalizing the ICU, ensuring its visibility and accountability, and restoring trust in its leadership.
He contrasted the current administration with the previous one, which he suggested lacked transparency and hindered effective collaboration with stakeholders, including the Teso Parliamentary Group.

“Papa Emorimor, I am very proud of you. You have made the flag of Teso fly again, you have displayed exceptional leadership and restored trust,” Ecweru stated, acknowledging the cultural leader’s role in bringing pride to the Iteso community, particularly those living in Kampala and other urban centers.
During his speech, the minister also called for unity among rival factions within the ICU, urging all stakeholders to put aside their differences and prioritize the development of the Teso region.
He emphasized the need for dialogue and cooperation among Iteso leaders to advance cultural, social, and economic progress.
Ecweru further highlighted Emorimor’s ambitious vision for the future, including plans for the construction of a modern cultural palace and other development projects aimed at empowering the Iteso people.
He urged all leaders, development partners, and the diaspora community to rally behind these initiatives and provide the necessary support to bring them to fruition.
Under Emorimor’s leadership, the ICU has taken bold steps toward cultural preservation, economic growth, and regional stability.
His commitment to fostering partnerships with government institutions and development agencies has positioned the ICU as a key player in the progress of Teso.

I see the future of iteso again and my humble appeal to the institution leaders is that, we have institutions of learning in teso but with week Tesda body’s. Am of a view that if it could be possible let icu strengthen these body’s within teso so that the leaders of such body’s in other istitutions outside teso can borrow a leaf.
The Minister has said it all indeed the people of Teso are on the right track with Emorimor Papa Sannde Employ
May God Almighty add you more wisdom to lead your people.
