The Anglican Church in Oriau ‘A’ village, Omasia parish, Magoro sub county Katakwi district, requires Ugx 20 million for completion.

Oriau CoU, under Toroma archdeaconry, Soroti diocese, was formed in 1906 and began construction in 2006. It has struggled financially for the past 18 years.

Head of Laity Oriau Church of Uganda, John Stephen Oluma, confirmed the church crisis on Saturday, December 7, 2024, during a fundraising event after collecting Ugx 9 million for roofing, stating that Christians are impoverished and their contributions are minimal.
He urged stakeholders and other churches to support them because Christians are affected by natural disasters such as rain and sunshine as a result of the open roof during prayers.

He claims that when it rains, people pray in school classrooms rather than under mango trees.
According to Oluma, out of a budget of Ugx 300 million, they have spent Ugx 30 million and still need Ugx 20 million for roofing the church, which can accommodate around 500 Christians.
Rev. Thomas Omoding of Oriau CoU, while thanking the politicians who attended the occasion, urged Christians and well-wishers to give to church buildings in order to receive God’s blessings, as Nehemiah 2:15 states.
Geoffrey Omolo, the LC5 Katakwi, and Walter Elakas Okiring, a former LC5 and Toroma county contender, were among the key politicians who contributed, urging politicians to generously support God’s cause.
Joseph Okiror Ideket, the Toroma county contender who purchased a heifer cow for 1.5 million and donated 600,000 to the church’s building, has promised to maintain his support.
Charles Kedi and Jemina Agoe, two Christians, praised Joseph Ideket Okiror, a politician who attended the ceremony in support of their church’s efforts, stating that they had a generous heart.
