The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Tribunal has officially dismissed a petition challenging the election of Emaju Peter Paul as the party’s flag bearer for Kasilo County, Serere District, in the recently concluded primaries.
In its ruling, the Tribunal stated that the petitioner had failed to provide sufficient evidence to justify the nullification of Emaju’s win.

“The Tribunal finds no justifiable reason to set aside the election of the Respondent as the NRM Flag Bearer for Kasilo County, Serere District,” read part of the ruling.

As a result, the Tribunal issued two key declarations:
1. The Petition is hereby dismissed.

2. The declaration of Emaju Peter Paul as the duly elected NRM flag bearer for Kasilo County, Serere District is upheld.
The verdict brings an end to weeks of legal uncertainty and intense political debate that followed the July 17th NRM primary elections.
Emaju’s declaration had earlier been contested by a rival candidate who alleged irregularities and sought to overturn the results through the party’s internal legal mechanisms.
However, the Tribunal maintained that the electoral process met the party’s legal and procedural standards, and there was no convincing evidence to invalidate the outcome.
Speaking shortly after the Tribunal’s decision, Emaju Peter Paul, widely referred to by his initials EPP, expressed both gratitude and renewed determination.
“The voice of the people has spoken, loud and clear! The NRM Tribunal has affirmed what Kasilo already knew: EPP is the rightful flag bearer. This is a triumph for truth, for justice, and for every son and daughter of our beloved land,” Emaju said.
“We celebrate this moment with gratitude and renewed energy. The mission to redeem Kasilo is alive and unstoppable! Forward, together!”
His remarks were received with cheers by a crowd of supporters who had gathered in Serere Town to await the outcome of the petition.
Many waved NRM flags and wore yellow T-shirts printed with EPP’s campaign slogan, “Kasilo First, Always.”
With the Tribunal verdict now settled, local leaders and senior party officials have called on all contestants to unite behind Emaju to strengthen the party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“We must remember that internal competition is part of democracy, but once a flag bearer is declared, all efforts must rally behind them,” said a senior party mobilizer in Serere. “Emaju has earned his victory, and it’s time for the NRM in Kasilo to move as one.”
The Tribunal’s decision is seen as a major boost to Emaju’s growing political profile, especially among the youth and grassroots supporters who have rallied behind his development-focused message.

This is a deserved victory
