The Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Eciru Oliach, has announced a series of mini-transfers and appointments of priests within the diocese.
The changes were made public on Saturday during a solemn ordination ceremony held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Parish, Obalanga, where three deacons were ordained priests, and one seminarian was ordained a deacon.

In his homily, Bishop Eciru urged the newly ordained priests to invest their energy and time in making Jesus known and loved, reminding them that their vocation is a sacred calling, not a career path.

“Your dreams should not be about personal gain, but about saving souls and preaching Christ,” the Bishop emphasized.
As part of the day’s significant events, the Bishop revealed transfers aimed at strengthening pastoral ministry and administrative support within the diocese.

Among the key changes, Rev. Fr. Geofrey Opio has been appointed Acting Assistant Vocations Director, Acting Private Secretary to the Bishop, and Assistant Diocesan Chancellor. He replaces Rev. Fr. Peter Opio, who has been sent for further studies.
Rev. Fr. Auki Mathew Kalemba will now head the Proposed Mary Help of Christians Catholic Parish in Otuboi, marking a step towards the establishment of a new full-fledged parish in that area.
Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Joseph Eilu has been posted to Ogangai Catholic Parish as Parish Priest.
In a related adjustment, Rev. Fr. Robert Amoni, who has been serving as the Parish Priest of Amucu Catholic Parish, has been transferred to Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish in Soroti town as Assistant Parish Priest.
His transfer comes as a replacement for the late Rev. Fr. Joachim Otai, whose passing earlier this year left a pastoral gap in the cathedral parish.
The newly ordained Rev. Fr. Denis Egili has been appointed to Amucu Catholic Parish, taking over from Fr. Amoni.
This move will allow him to begin his priestly ministry under an experienced pastoral environment.
Rev. Fr. Gerald Emmanuel Ongodia has been transferred to Apopong Catholic Parish in Bukedea District, replacing Rev. Fr. Pius Otim, who has been granted study leave.
Similarly, Rev. Fr. Cosmas Enyasu has also been sent for further studies, as the Diocese continues to invest in the academic and spiritual formation of its clergy.
Finally, Rev. Fr. Brian Ekwaru has been assigned to serve at Opunoi Catholic Parish in Serere District.
The Bishop noted that the transfers are part of an ongoing effort to improve pastoral effectiveness and spiritual leadership across the Diocese.
He also encouraged Christians in the affected parishes to welcome their new shepherds with love and prayerful support.

May God give them spirit guidances towards service of God’s work
