Jubilations have rocked Dakabela County following the nomination of Anyimo Hariet as an independent candidate for the Member of Parliament seat, symbolized by a pot, a sign she says represents unity and provision for all.

Her nomination was officially conducted and declared by Joseph Mukwaya, the Soroti District Returning Officer, during a ceremony held at Lukiko Hall, where she was duly confirmed to run as an independent candidate for the Dakabela County parliamentary seat.

Speaking to the media shortly after her nomination, Anyimo Hariet pledged to focus on accountability, transparency, and economic empowerment, with special emphasis on improving road infrastructure, health, and education across the county.
“The men have tried their best to develop Dakabela, but they have failed. A mother is now the choice. When a mother is at home, she ensures everyone eats. That’s why I have come to look, cook, and serve all people,” she said passionately, drawing applause from her supporters.

She further noted that her decision to contest stems from the persistent poverty and poor service delivery in Dakabela County, attributing it to lack of effective leadership.
“The people of Dakabela have not had the right leader who can empower them economically and deliver proper services. I am stepping forward to change that,” she emphasized.
Anyimo vowed to be a voice for women, youth, and farmers, saying her leadership will be grounded in inclusivity and community-driven initiatives aimed at tackling unemployment and uplifting livelihoods.
She concluded by calling on all voters to unite behind her vision, promising to bring a motherly touch of care, accountability, and results-oriented leadership to the people of Dakabela County.
“Let us work together to eradicate poverty and build a better Dakabela where everyone has an opportunity to thrive,” she appealed.
