Her Royal Majesty Akaliait Toto Juliet Among Emolot Atomeileng has called upon men in Kapelebyong to fulfill their responsibilities within their families, particularly in providing for their wives and children.
She expressed concern that some men enjoy nice meals at the centers while their families at home struggle to find something to eat.

Speaking during a cultural gathering in Kapelebyong, Toto Among emphasized that neglecting family responsibilities not only creates financial burdens but also affects love and harmony in households.

“Some men go to the centers and enjoy good dishes, forgetting that they have a wife and children at home who are going hungry. This is unfair and damages family unity,” she remarked.
She urged men to be mindful of their duties as heads of families, stressing that taking care of one’s household is a fundamental expectation in Iteso culture.

In addition to urging men to be more responsible, Toto Among also advised women to make home meals more attractive to encourage their husbands to eat at home rather than in centers.
She noted that some men are compelled to eat out because the meals prepared at home may not be appealing or culturally satisfying.
“Women should prepare delicious traditional dishes that excite their husbands and keep them around the home,” she said.
She also addressed the issue of cultural identity, particularly in relation to dressing.
She challenged parents to take an active role in guiding their children’s dressing choices from a young age.
She warned against the growing influence of foreign cultures, which she believes is eroding traditional Iteso values.
“Our children are now copying dressing styles from other cultures that are not accepted in Iteso tradition,” she noted.
“It is the responsibility of parents to correct this early before it becomes a norm.”
She specifically emphasized the importance of traditional Iteso attire, particularly animal print clothing, as a way of preserving the community’s cultural identity.
