A 65-year-old restaurant owner, Lukia Amuge, was tragically found murdered in her home in Komuriakeri village, Kongunga sub-county, Bukedea district.
The incident, reported under case number CRB BUKEDEA 026/2025, has left the local community in grief and fear as police intensify investigations into the murder.

According to Sam Echedet, the Local Council 1 (LC1) chairperson who reported the case, the incident came to light early Monday morning, January 6, 2025.

Concerned neighbor Amoding Ann Lilian raised the alarm after noticing unusual silence from Amuge, who typically began her day early to prepare meals for her restaurant.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., Amoding knocked on Amuge’s door but received no response.

She then opened the unlocked door and discovered Amuge lying lifeless on a papyrus mat in a pool of blood.
Alarmed, she called for help, attracting villagers and eventually alerting the authorities.
Damalie Nachuha, the Regional Police Commander (RPC) for East Kyoga, confirmed that investigators responded promptly to the scene.
A detailed examination revealed that Amuge had sustained a deep cut on her neck and another on her right cheek.
A blood-stained knife with a light blue handle, suspected to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the scene.
Police also deployed a canine unit to track the suspect.
The dog followed a scent trail for about a kilometer before losing track, indicating that the perpetrator may have used a vehicle or other means to escape.
“We are actively searching for the suspects behind this heinous act,” Nachuha stated.
“The crime scene has been thoroughly examined and documented, and the murder weapon has been secured for further forensic analysis.”
Amuge’s body was transported to Bukedea Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
Police have urged anyone with information that could assist in the case to come forward.
