Police in Kapelebyong District have launched an investigation into the murder of a 55-year-old man following a land dispute.
The incident occurred on February 8, 2025, at around 5:30 PM in Aberan Village, Alito Parish, Alito Sub-county.

The deceased, identified as Owino Julius, was allegedly stabbed to death by his cousin, Olwit Fidel, 56, over a disagreement regarding the sale of land.

According to the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander (RPC), Damalie Nachuha, preliminary investigations indicate that Owino Julius was attacked while on his way home after refusing to allow the sale of a piece of land.
Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene and is currently on the run.

The case was reported to Alito Police Station by the area LC1 chairperson, Eeru John Emmanuel, under SD REF 05/08/02/2025.
A homicide team from Kapelebyong Central Police Station (CPS) visited the crime scene and has since launched a manhunt for the suspect.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding Olwit Fidel’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station to aid in his arrest.
Meanwhile, Police have reiterated the need for peaceful dispute resolution, especially concerning land-related conflicts, which have been a growing concern in various communities.
The body of the deceased has been taken for postmortem examination as investigations continue under CRB 57/2025, Kapelebyong CPS.
