Health services in Soroti City received a boost this morning following a donation of medical equipment by Rodney Mukula Akongel, who is aspiring to become Member of Parliament for Soroti City East.
Mukula handed over syringes valued at over 3 million shillings to eight health facilities, including Soroti Regional Referral Hospital and Princess Diana Hospital.

The donation was received by Dr. Joseph Epodoi, who hailed the gesture as timely and critical in improving service delivery at the referral hospital.

“This support will help strengthen our capacity to serve patients better. We thank Mukula for stepping forward to contribute to the health of our people,” Dr. Epodoi said.
Mukula, who has also been active in supporting schools, improving water access, and promoting livelihoods in the region, said the donation was part of his ongoing commitment to the well-being of the people of Soroti.

“A healthy population is key to achieving development. We must work together to ensure our communities have the necessary resources to thrive,” Mukula said during the handover.
Residents and health workers at the beneficiary facilities welcomed the donation, saying it would help address shortages and improve patient care.
The eight health centres that benefited from the initiative serve thousands of people in Soroti City and the surrounding areas.
