Residents of Okulonyo Parish in Serere District were filled with joy and renewed hope after the area Member of Parliament for Serere County, Hon. Emmanuel Omoding, donated 40 bags of cement and three trips of bricks to support the construction of Okulonyo Community Health Centre.
The generous gesture was announced during avibrant campaign rally held at Olio Sub-county where Hon. Omoding officially launched his campaigns ahead of the upcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries scheduled for July 17.

During the rally, Mr. Joseph Enagu, the chairperson of Okulonyo Community Health Centre project, passionately appealed to Hon. Omoding for support.

He explained that for a long time the people of Okulonyo have faced immense challenges accessing health services due to the lack of a nearby health facility.
Residents often travel long distances to Serere Health Centre, a journey that becomes even more difficult for expectant mothers, elderly people, and those with emergency health conditions.

Mr. Enagu further revealed that the late Hon. Patrick Okabe, the father of Hon. Omoding, had initially supported the project by donating one trip of bricks.
However, the community was still struggling to mobilize additional building materials to kickstart the construction.
In response to this appeal, Hon. Omoding stepped forward with the promise of 40 bags of cement and cash money for three trips of bricks, a move that was received with overwhelming excitement and gratitude from the residents.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Omoding emphasized the importance of accessible health care and pledged his continued commitment to uplifting the living standards of his constituents.
He noted that his intervention is not only a campaigns but to finish the work started by his Late father.
The donation instantly sparked excitement, with many residents expressing their unwavering support for Hon. Omoding’s re-election bid.
Locals promised to rally behind him in the upcoming elections citing his generosity and unwavering commitment to community development as key reasons.
“We are truly grateful for Hon. Omoding’s support. His contribution will go a long way in ensuring our dream of having a health centre becomes a reality,” said Mr. Enagu.
“With his continued leadership, we are confident that more development will come to our parish.”
The event marked a significant milestone for the people of Okulonyo Parish bringing them one step closer to realizing their long awaited goal of having a health facility within reach.
