Stephen Ejoku, the LCV aspirant for Soroti, has stepped forward to sponsor the education of Catherine Ajibo, an orphan who had been forced to drop out of school due to financial hardships.
Ejoku’s kindness came after a chance meeting with Ajibo, who had been searching for work to help pay for her siblings’ education.

Ajibo, the third-born of nine children, had been a student at Asuret Seed Secondary School before tragedy struck.

Following the death of her father, who had been the family’s primary breadwinner and the one funding her education, Ajibo was left with an unable mother and no means to continue her studies.
In an interview, Ejoku shared how their paths crossed.

“I was looking for a domestic worker, and that’s when I met Catherine. She was determined to find work to help her family, but after talking to her, I realized she was just a young girl still hoping to finish her education. It broke my heart to hear that she had dropped out of school because of financial challenges. I knew I had to help,” he said.
After learning about Ajibo’s circumstances, he paid off her school fees for the previous term and has sponsored her education expenses until she completes her Ordinary Level (O-Level) studies.
“No child should be deprived of education due to lack of money. I want to give her the opportunity to achieve her dreams, just like any other student,” Ejoku added.
Ejoku has emphasized his commitment to community development and the importance of education in uplifting young people from poverty.
“Education is a powerful tool. By investing in our youth, we are investing in the future of our community and country,” he remarked.

Ajibo’s journey is a reminder of the resilience of youth in the face of adversity, and how a single act of kindness can change the trajectory of a young life.
For Ajibo, the relief was immense.
“When I met Mr. Ejoku, I was ready to work as a maid just to support my siblings and pay for their school fees. I never thought I’d be able to return to school. I’m so grateful to Mr. Ejoku for giving me this chance to finish my education,” she said, fighting back tears.
With Ejoku’s sponsorship, Ajibo is now able to focus on her studies and dreams of a brighter future.
“I will work hard to succeed, not just for myself, but for my family and everyone who has supported me,” she vowed.
Ajibo’s older sister, Faith Ajiko, has also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Ejoku.
She described him as a “savior” who brought light into their lives at a time of darkness.
“Stephen Ejoku has given my sister and our entire family hope. We are so thankful to him for his kindness and for showing us that there are still good-hearted people in this world,” Faith said. “May God continue to bless him for his generosity.”
Ejoku’s intervention has not only impacted Ajibo’s life but has also inspired others in the community.
