The Anglican Bishop of Kumi Diocese, Rt Rev Micheal Okwii Esakhan, has called upon students of Mukura Memorial Secondary School to embrace persistence, prayer, and hard work as they prepare for their national examinations.
The Bishop made the call during a special Order of Blessing service for Senior Four and Senior Six candidates held at the school premises in Ngora district.

The service, attended by parents, stakeholders, teachers, and fellow students, was marked by prayer and encouragement for the 580 candidates who are due to sit their final examinations.

Quoting from Luke 18:1-8 about the widow who persistently prayed, Bishop Esakhan reminded the learners to remain steadfast and committed in their academic journey.
“We must be persistent, hardworking, and enduring not only to learn but to see how it will help us in the future. Do it with your best shot,” he urged.

He further cited Matthew 7:7-8, stressing the importance of prayer and trust in God as written in Scripture “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.”
The Bishop encouraged the candidates to seek forgiveness, set aside distractions, and prepare for their exams with diligence and faith.
“Pray every time asking God for wisdom and saying we have done our best, but you Almighty help me. No one will come to help you, but you are the one to shape your future,” he said, emphasizing that prayers transform those who pray, not God.
Bishop Esakhan also expressed gratitude to parents for their sacrifices in paying school fees and to teachers for their tireless efforts in preparing students.
Head teacher Margaret Aluka thanked the Bishop for presiding over the blessing service and acknowledged the role of parents, teachers, and stakeholders in supporting the school.
She confirmed that this year the school registered 399 Senior Four and 181 Senior Six candidates, a growth compared to last year’s 384 S4 and 133 S6 students.
She attributed this increase to the school’s good performance, noting that last year all registered candidates passed with good grades.
“We have benchmarked, stocked our library, and facilitated both internal and external examinations to ensure our students get quality education in both the new and old curriculums,” Aluka said.
Students expressed gratitude for the Bishop’s message, pledging to remain focused.
Candidate Ojulong Costatine said, “We thank the Bishop for blessing us and giving us a strong message of working hard and focusing on our vision. We are ready because we have been reading so hard.”
Another candidate, Akurut Josephine, added, “Our teachers have prepared us adequately, we have done seminars, tests, mocks, and various examinations, we are confident of success.”
