Katakwi High School in Katakwi District has made history by producing its first-ever A-grade result in Biology, as announced in today’s Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results.
According to Joseph Opule, the school’s headteacher and Biology and Chemistry teacher, Daniel Amaitum, the top-performing student, achieved an exceptional A-grade in Biology, with an impressive 17 points in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and ICT.

Other notable performers include: Moses Paul Ocen (History, Arts, and Literature) – 17 points, Oitapus Cyprian Patrick (Physics, Arts, and Mathematics) 15 points Lawrence Esamu (Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics) – 14 points, Okiror Benjamin (Physics, Economics, and Mathematics) – 13 points

Francis Ariko, the S.6 class registrar, expressed his astonishment at the learners’ remarkable performance, noting a significant improvement from last year’s best result of 15 points.
Opule emphasized that this achievement marks a turning point for Katakwi High School, enabling it to compete with top schools nationwide.

He attributed Amaitum’s success to his dedication and the school administration’s support.
Amaitum, the top student, extended his gratitude to his teachers and family for their guidance and encouragement, He aspires to become a medical surgeon.
