State Minister for Teso Affairs and Kalaki County MP Kenneth Clement Ongalo has declared that he is here to stay, asserting that no challenger will unseat him in the forthcoming elections.
Ongalo made these bold remarks on Tuesday during the belated Women’s Day celebrations held at Otuboi Town Council Offices.

Addressing a crowd of jubilant supporters, the minister reaffirmed his confidence in retaining his parliamentary seat, emphasizing his track record and unwavering commitment to development in Kalaki County.

“I am here to stay, and no one will unseat me from Kalaki County,” Ongalo declared.
“The people of Kalaki have seen my work, and they will make the right choice when the time comes.”

His statement comes as the political climate in Kalaki heats up ahead of the 2026 elections.
Ongalo is facing stiff competition, particularly from Kalaki District LCV Chairperson Samuel Okello, who has emerged as a formidable contender for the parliamentary seat.
Okello’s rising popularity and grassroots mobilization efforts have sparked political debate in the district, setting the stage for what is expected to be a highly contested race.
While Ongalo touted his achievements, including infrastructure improvements, education sector support, and initiatives aimed at empowering women and youth, his critics argue that the constituency requires fresh leadership with new ideas.
Okello, who has built a strong reputation at the district level, has been vocal about the need for change, promising a leadership approach centered on inclusive governance and better service delivery.
During the Women’s Day event, Minister Ongalo highlighted government efforts to uplift women, including increased funding for women’s groups and initiatives supporting female entrepreneurs.
He assured residents of continued support from the central government, adding that he remains the best candidate to sustain progress in the county.
Political analysts note that the upcoming race in Kalaki will test Ongalo’s grip on the constituency as voters weigh his experience against the calls for change championed by his rivals.
With election campaigns gaining momentum, both Ongalo and Okello are expected to intensify their outreach, engaging communities in a bid to secure support.
