Hon. Hellen Adoa, the Woman Member of Parliament for Serere District and Minister for State for Fisheries, has called on Muslim women to prioritize education for their children as a key tool for social transformation.
Adoa made the remarks while addressing participants at the opening of a Women’s Conference held at Asilang Mosque today.

Speaking to a gathering of Muslim women, Adoa emphasized that education remains the most powerful tool in shaping a better future in an ever-changing society.

“We are living in a different world today. If our children are not educated, they will be left behind. As mothers, you play a central role in ensuring your sons and daughters attend school and complete their studies,” Adoa said.
The conference also highlighted a growing partnership between Muslim women from Kampala and their counterparts in Serere.

This unique initiative, which was started by Adoa five years ago, has fostered cultural exchange and mutual support between the two communities. Through various exchange programs, women from both regions have shared ideas on development, empowerment, and social welfare.
Adoa commended the efforts of Hajat Madiina Wandah, a key figure in the Kampala Muslim Women Development Association, who has been instrumental in coordinating the exchange programs.
“I want to sincerely thank Hajat Wandah for her dedication and hard work in keeping this program alive. It is through such initiatives that we build stronger communities,” Adoa said.
In her remarks, Hajat Wandah praised Hon. Adoa for her inclusive approach to leadership.
She noted that Adoa is one of the rare Members of Parliament who embraces all women regardless of religious background.
“Hon. Adoa is a special kind of leader. She doesn’t segregate. She treats Christian women and Muslim women the same. To her, we are all her women. That’s why we love and support her,” Wandah stated.
