Despite a shortage of teaching staff in ‘A level, Usuk secondary school has recorded first every mathematic Candidate who scored A’ in MEG/E with a percentage of 90 percent getting direct university entry.

When compared to the UACE 2023 results, where the school registered 23 candidates and the top candidate scored 14 in MEG, the startling news caused the school to celebrate improved performance in the most recent 2024 UACE results.

A total of 141,996 candidates registered for the 2024 UACE examinations, compared to 110,566 in 2023, an increase of 31,430 candidates (28.4%).
Of these, 61,957 (43.6%) were female, while 80,039 (56.4%) were male.

According to Joseph Okiror, the head teacher of Usuk Senior Secondary School, out of the 28 candidates who registered, 27 sat for the exam, and 26 scored result code 5.
Cyrus Aupal, the best student, got 16 points out of 20 in the subjects of history, literature, and divinity, while David Moses Okiror got 14 in the subjects of biology, chemistry, and mathematics, Racheal Amoding scored 13 in the subjects of economics, geography, and mathematics, and 12 candidates received scores above 10, making them eligible for university admission.
Despite the teacher deficit, Okiror valued the better teamwork performance of parents, pupils, and dedicated teachers.
He pointed out that six candidates received three principal passes, two received two principal and subsidiary passes, and six received one principal pass.
Okiror claims that even though the advanced level teaching team had only two science teachers, they were nevertheless able to register an A in mathematics.
He claimed that the school’s students had continued to progress thanks to the other two art teachers.
