Halcyon High School Soroti Main Campus has once again made headlines for academic excellence, following the release of the 2024 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
The school proudly announced that 70% of its 180 candidates who sat for the exams achieved three principal passes, securing their places at universities across the country.

Speaking to the media, the school’s head teacher, Mr. Paul Mark Onyait, expressed deep satisfaction with the performance.

He described the results as a reflection of Halcyon’s continued commitment to academic excellence and holistic education.
“We are proud to announce that 70% of our candidates obtained three principal passes. An additional 25% scored two principal passes, which means 95% of our students qualify for university and tertiary education,” Mr. Onyait said.

He added that the overall performance indicated not only consistency but also growth in several academic areas, with notable improvements in girls’ performance across both Arts and Science combinations.
Among the top achievers is Orach Emmanuel, who emerged as the best candidate from Halcyon with an impressive 19 points in HED/ICT.
He was followed closely by three candidates who each scored 18 points: Akol Tonny Brian (PCM/ICT), Anyimo Mercy (HLD/ICT), and Amongin Caroline (HLD/ICT). Other notable students include Ewotu Edward (HEL/ICT) with 17 points, Okot Steven Gerrard (PCM/ICT) with 16 points, and Anamo Mary (MEG/TCT), also with 16 points.
Mr. Onyait called upon parents and stakeholders to continue supporting the school in its mission to provide quality education.
“We thank all our teachers, students, parents, and support staff who have contributed to this great success. Halcyon remains committed to shaping future leaders through academic excellence and discipline,” he concluded.
Mr. Onyait was particularly pleased with the improved performance of female candidates.
“We have seen progress in girls’ performance this year, especially in Sciences and Arts subjects. This is a great sign that our efforts toward gender equality in academic achievement are paying off,” he noted.
Akol Tonny Brian, one of the top Science candidates, shared his experience and pride in the school.
“I sat my UACE at Halcyon High School, Soroti Main Campus. I got 18 points, and I’m happy about that. Even if I missed two points, it was due to a small error. I was doing PCM and I passed well,” he said.
He went on to encourage other students and parents to consider Halcyon as their school of choice.
“Halcyon is a passing center. There’s a lot of reading, a lot of assessments, and serious academic guidance. We passed extremely well this year,” he added with pride.
Akwango Lilian, another proud student, attributed her success to the school’s supportive academic environment and dedicated teachers.
“The teachers gave us continuous assessments, papers, and corrections. I expected around 12 points because Literature was a bit tough, but I was excited with my final results,” she said.
“To the girls out there, come to Halcyon. It’s a loving school with a great environment.”
Ewotu Edward, who scored 17 points, acknowledged that while the Literature papers were challenging, he and his peers were well-prepared.
“We performed well. We did not expect the kind of results we got, especially in Literature, but the outcome was extremely good,” he said.
