In a display of faith and devotion, around 500 Catholic pilgrims from the Most Holy Name of Jesus Dakabela Parish embarked on a spiritual journey on foot, making their way to Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish in Soroti.
This pilgrimage, inspired by Pope Francis’ declaration of the Jubilee Year under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” was a testament to their unwavering trust in God.

The journey began in Dakabela, with the faithful walking in prayer and praise, stopping at St. Patrick’s Madera before reaching their final destination.

Leading this vibrant congregation was Rev. Fr. Marcel Ajoket, the parish priest and Communications Director of SSOCCOM. With each step, the pilgrims sang hymns and reflected on their faith, embodying the essence of the Jubilee theme.
Upon arriving at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, the pilgrims were warmly received and given insightful teachings about the Jubilee Year.

Papa Mzee Eric Okiror and Mwalimu Aquinas delivered inspiring lessons, reminding the faithful of the significance of this sacred celebration in the Catholic Church.
As the gathering culminated in a Holy Mass, Fr. Marcel delivered a powerful homily centered on the importance of hope.
He urged Christians to always put their trust in God, reminding them that “Hope in God never disappoints.”
He encouraged them to remain faithful despite life’s challenges, emphasizing that their time on Earth is limited and should be spent in unwavering faith.
“We have only a few days on this Earth. Why not place all our hopes in God?” he asked.
Beyond hope, Fr. Marcel also emphasized the value of humility.
He urged Christians to remain humble in their walk with God, assuring them that blessings come to those who live with humility and faith.
He reassured the faithful that every individual was created with a divine purpose, and trusting in God’s plan would lead them to fulfillment.
The message deeply resonated with the pilgrims, many of whom expressed gratitude for the spiritual experience.
The atmosphere was filled with joy, celebration, and a renewed sense of faith as the pilgrims hailed their priest for organizing such a meaningful event.
The pilgrimage was more than just a walk it was a journey of renewal, faith, and community.
As the faithful sang, danced, and worshipped, their faces shone with happiness, reflecting the true spirit of the Jubilee Year.
