Popular radio personality Peter Atikiro, widely known as Atikz the Man, has resigned from Teso Broadcasting Service (TBS), a radio station owned by businessman Sanjay Tanna, and joined Voice of Teso Radio, owned by Captain Mike Mukula.
Atikiro’s move comes at a politically charged moment as Mukula and Tanna prepare to face off in the race for NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda later this year.

Mukula, a veteran NRM leader, has held the seat since 2015, while Tanna, a businessman and former MP for Tororo Municipality, is looking to unseat him.

The shift of a popular media figure like Atikiro is seen as significant, given the influence of radio in Teso and the greater Eastern region.
Observers believe his move to Voice of Teso, a station linked to Mukula, could signal growing support for the incumbent.

Mukula and Tanna’s contest has already sparked debate within NRM, with regional support expected to play a crucial role in the final outcome.
Atikiro’s decision could add another layer of intrigue to an already heated political battle.
While commenting on the matter, Atikz said, “It was tough one to decide.”
Voice of Teso through their General Manager Richard Ekotu, revealed that the new signing Atikiro will join OP the offside Man on the sports Wave show.
