Jeressar High School in Soroti has emerged as a beacon of academic excellence in the Teso region following the release of the recent National Lower Secondary Examination (NLSE) results.

The school’s impressive performance has positioned it as the best-performing institution in the region, a significant achievement in the history of the school.

In an exclusive interview with Bartha Asekenye, the Headteacher of Jeressar High School, expressed immense pride and joy over the results.
“We are thrilled with the results. Every student has passed with grades A and B, as per the UNEB grading system. This marks a major milestone for our school and the region,” Asekenye remarked.

She went on to explain the UNEB grading system, noting that an “A” represents exceptional performance, a “B” signifies outstanding achievement, and a “C” is considered satisfactory.
This year, the school registered over 223 students under the new curriculum, which was being examined for the first time.
Despite it being a new challenge, Asekenye believes that Jeressar High School will continue to excel in the years ahead.
“While this is the first time the new curriculum was examined, we’ve adapted well, and I’m confident that in the coming years, the results will only get better,” she said.
The standout subjects in the recent examination were Humanities, Sciences, and Vocational Studies.
The headteacher noted that girls excelled in Humanities, while boys dominated in the Sciences.
Jeressar High School also offers sponsorships to top-performing students, though Asekenye admitted it is becoming increasingly challenging to select awardees given the school’s near-perfect performance.
“It’s difficult to choose sponsorship recipients because all of our students have performed exceptionally well. The top performers in terms of admission will be selected for sponsorship,” she explained.
The headteacher took this opportunity to urge parents to continue supporting their children’s education and bring them to Jeressar High School.
“I call on all parents to bring their children to school. Our students have achieved remarkable success, with 90% of them passing, compared to previous years. We are grateful to the parents who have entrusted us with their children,” Asekenye concluded.
The students, too, shared their excitement about their achievements. They expressed gratitude to their teachers for their unwavering support and dedication throughout their academic journey.
“We’re very happy with our results and appreciate the tireless efforts of our headteacher and teachers. We also thank our parents for their continuous support in paying our school fees,” said one of the students.
The success of Jeressar High School has set a high standard for academic excellence in the Teso region.
As the school continues to grow and develop, it remains a shining example of what can be achieved when students, teachers, and parents work together toward a common goal.
The headteacher’s call to parents to bring their children to Jeressar serves as an invitation to ensure that more students can experience the same level of success in the years to come.
