Renowned Soroti City based lawyer Joshua Okello has publicly lauded Speaker Anita Annet Among for her commitment to transforming the Parliament of Uganda.
Speaking to the media today in Soroti City, Okello highlighted Among’s exemplary leadership qualities and rallied National Resistance Movement (NRM) delegates to support her candidacy for the position of NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female), currently held by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

Okello painted a picture of Among’s leadership style, emphasizing her dedication to fostering development, integrity, and progress.

“Hon. Anita Among is a responsible leader who gives actionable feedback and provides support to those in need,” Okello stated.
“Her impact on communities is evident through tangible projects like the hospital and school she has established. These initiatives promote education and healthcare, proving her commitment to improving the lives of Ugandans.”

Okello went further to praise Among’s leadership attributes, citing her ability to recognize and reward hard work while addressing underperformance tactfully.
“She recognizes progress publicly but criticizes poor performance privately, which motivates individuals to improve without feeling undermined,” he said.
According to Okello, Among’s open-mindedness and ability to remain calm in chaotic situations set her apart as a leader of exceptional character.
“She doesn’t make decisions impulsively or base them on one favored option. She remains calm in the face of chaos and never responds to bad behavior with similar conduct,” Okello added.
As the NRM prepares for the upcoming internal elections, Okello urged delegates to rally behind Among should she decide to vie for the position of NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female).
He emphasized that voting is a civic duty, and making informed decisions is crucial for the country’s progress.
“For many people, voting is not just a right; it is an act of civic duty. Beyond personal interests, voters should focus on what best serves society as a whole,” Okello stated.
He urged the electorate to study party policies and track records of candidates, adding that Honorable Among’s extensive experience within the NRM positions her as a strong contender.
“Hon. Anita Among has been a dedicated member of the NRM for years and understands its policies deeply. Her leadership has consistently aligned with the party’s vision for Uganda,” he remarked.
He noted that her ability to navigate complex situations without succumbing to pressure makes her a unifying figure within the NRM and the country at large.
“Her calm demeanor, even in difficult times, is a testament to her resilience and focus. She understands the importance of listening to all sides before making decisions, which is a rare trait among leaders today,” he said.
Among’s contributions to her community have not gone unnoticed. The hospital she constructed provides access to essential healthcare services, while the school she established promotes education in the Bukedea District.
These projects, Okello highlighted, are symbols of Among’s hands-on approach to leadership and her commitment to uplifting the lives of ordinary Ugandans.
“She follows through on her commitments, ensuring that projects are not just promises but realities. This is the kind of leadership we need in the NRM and Uganda as a whole,” Okello emphasized.
As the 2026 election period draws closer, Okello called on the people of Bukede to recognize Among’s contributions and potential.
He urged voters to make choices that reflect their commitment to Uganda’s development and the values of the NRM.
“The trick is to exercise your vote in a responsible, informed, and considered manner. Hon. Anita Among has proven her dedication to the NRM’s principles and the betterment of Uganda. Let us support her to continue her transformative work,” Okello concluded.
