As families across Uganda gather to celebrate Christmas, the people of Teso, particularly in Ngariam County, reflect on a year marked by immense challenges but also renewed hope for the future.
Dan Mulalu, the Private Secretary in charge of Political Mobilization at State House also Ngariam County MP Hopeful, has used this festive season to reiterate his commitment to uplifting the people of Teso and addressing their pressing issues ahead of the 2026 general elections.

For the people of Ngariam County, 2024 was a year of trials.

Devastating floods swept through the region earlier this year, displacing thousands and destroying homes, crops, and infrastructure.
The floods, exacerbated by climate change and inadequate drainage systems, left a trail of destruction.

Families were left scrambling for shelter, clean water, and food in the aftermath.
“Our lost everything,” recalls Mulalu. “The floods took away people’s homes and all the crops they had planted. It has been a struggle to rebuild.”
The floods also underscored long-standing issues in the region, including poor road networks, limited access to healthcare, and high unemployment rates among youth.
The people of Teso have shown resilience, but the challenges demand urgent and sustainable solutions.
In his Christmas message, Dan Mulalu emphasized the spirit of resilience and unity that defines the people of Teso.
“Christmas is a time to reflect on our struggles and triumphs as a community,” he said.
“It is also a time to renew our commitment to building a better future for our children.”
Mulalu has been at the forefront of mobilizing resources for flood recovery in Ngariam County.
Working with government agencies and international partners, he has spearheaded efforts to provide temporary shelters, clean water, and food aid to affected families.
He has also initiated discussions on long-term solutions, such as constructing resilient infrastructure and implementing flood prevention measures.
“Our people deserve not just immediate relief but also the assurance that such disasters will not repeat with the same devastation,” Mulalu stated.
As the 2026 general elections draw closer, Mulalu’s focus extends beyond disaster recovery.
His role in political mobilization has seen him advocate for policies that address the root causes of challenges in Teso.
One of Mulalu’s key initiatives is engaging youth in vocational training programs to equip them with skills in agriculture, technology, and entrepreneurship.
By creating opportunities for self-reliance, he hopes to curb unemployment and instill hope among young people.
“The youth are the backbone of our region,” Mulalu said in his Message.
“We must empower them to take charge of their future.”
Additionally, Mulalu has promised to continue championing women’s empowerment and supporting initiatives that provide women with access to credit and training.
“Women’s cooperatives in Ngariam are now producing and marketing products such as crafts and agricultural goods, contributing to household incomes,” he stated.
He has also called for improved infrastructure, including better roads and schools, to ensure that every child has access to quality education.
In his Christmas message, Mulalu urged political leaders and citizens alike to work together for the good of the nation.
“As we prepare for the elections, let us focus on unity and progress,” he said. “Our region has immense potential, and together, we can unlock it.”
As 2025 approaches, the people of Ngariam County are hopeful for a brighter future. Mulalu’s efforts to bring their challenges to the forefront of national discourse have inspired confidence in the possibility of change.
For residents like Betty Isike, a flood victim in Ongera, the festive season is a reminder of resilience.
“We have faced many hardships, but we are grateful for leaders like Dan Mulalu who are working to make our lives better,” Isike said.
She noted that Mulalu has proved to be a leader ready to bring back their lost hope and has instilled determination in them to overcome challenges.
She is hopeful that under the leadership and vision of Dan Mulalu, the people of Ngariam County are poised to turn a new page, one of progress and prosperity.
