The Agule County Member of Parliament, Hon. David Ochwa, has rallied all Local Council (LC1) chairpersons in Agule County to spearhead massive mobilization efforts ahead of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign visit to Pallisa District next week.
Addressing a meeting of 86 LC1 chairpersons and NRM flag bearers from Akisim, Kameke, and Boliso sub-counties, Hon. Ochwa emphasized that Agule County should mobilize at least 40,000 supporters to welcome the President, who is also the NRM Party flag bearer in the forthcoming 2026 elections.

Ochwa, who doubles as the NRM Secretary General for Pallisa District, said that despite being an independent MP, he remains committed to ensuring overwhelming support for President Museveni in Agule and across Pallisa.

“We must rise above political divisions. Whether one is a flag bearer or an independent, what matters most is delivering victory for President Museveni,” Ochwa said.
“As Agule County hosts the President, we must produce the highest numbers. Let our drums and songs be heard across Pallisa as we show our loyalty to the NRM and to the person of President Museveni.”

The mobilization meeting followed a formal communication from Vincent Oluka Epoketom, the LCIII Chairperson of Kameke Sub-County, requesting that Agule County host the President during his campaign rally scheduled for next Wednesday.
Ochwa said that this decision placed a huge responsibility on Agule’s local leadership to demonstrate unity and strength in numbers.
He reminded the LC1s and sub-county leaders that the President’s visit would focus on consolidating government achievements in infrastructure, education, and poverty eradication, as well as reinforcing NRM’s social-economic transformation agenda.
“President Museveni’s message is clear, empowerment, stability, and prosperity for every Ugandan. I urge you to go door-to-door and mobilize our people to come and listen to their President,” Ochwa added.
In his remarks, Vincent Oluka Epoketom commended MP Ochwa for his commitment and dedication to the NRM cause, saying his actions speak louder than those of some official flag bearers.
“I don’t fear anyone at my age,” Oluka said. “There are people who call themselves ‘pure NRM’ but never attend party activities. Hon. Ochwa has been consistent and supportive even as an independent. That is the kind of leadership we need.”
He added that while every voter has the freedom to choose their local leaders, he would personally urge residents to rally behind President Museveni at the presidential level.
“I cannot dictate who to vote for at the county level, but when it comes to the presidency, I instruct you to vote massively for President Museveni. He is the one who has delivered development to our communities,” Oluka emphasized.
Other local leaders at the meeting, including Lawrence Tukei, LC1 Chairperson of Ometai Village in Akisim Sub-County, raised concerns about the recognition of grassroots mobilizers.
He noted that while LC1s play a crucial role in political mobilization, their contributions often go unacknowledged.
“We are the President’s representatives at the village level. We need visibility and recognition. The bicycles we received earlier are now old; we hope the government can consider additional support to facilitate our work,” Tukei said.
Jerry Ogwang, Chairperson of Akisim Pasia Village, echoed similar sentiments, calling for more logistical support for LC1s involved in mobilization activities.
Meanwhile, John Julius Okaki, the District Councilor for Akisim Sub-County, said that the upcoming rally at Kameke Primary School would be historic, as it marks the first time President Museveni is visiting the sub-counties of Akisim, Oboliso, and Kameke since he assumed power.
“This will be a landmark event. The President’s presence in these areas symbolizes recognition of our contributions to the NRM and the nation,” Okaki said.
The meeting concluded with LC1s pledging to intensify door-to-door mobilization and ensure maximum turnout during the President’s visit.
